Tide Multi-Purpose Oxi Has Found A Permanent Home!
Product was provided for my review. All opinions are mine.
Good bye Oxi Clean® – Hello Tide Oxi. “Oh My Gosh” – is my first response when someone asks me about this product.
Now let me tell you right now – I hate to clean! I will do just about anything I can to get out of cleaning. One of my favorite people in the world is “The Cleaning Lady”. She is one of the most important people in my life. So, when I was asked to try out the new Tide Multi-Purpose Oxi – my first thought was “Oh my – what have you got yourself into.”
On one of mine and Don’s Home Depot date nights (yes, we spend lots of date nights at Home Depot), we picked up a container of Tide Oxi. It comes in a large 7.12 lb container. A couple of weeks pass and that container of Tide Oxi is still sitting in my laundry room – unopened. I kept telling Don – we’ve got to try that Tide Oxi stuff out. According to Jonathan Scott of HGTV’s Property Brothers (don’t you just love that commercial), Tide Oxi has more than 225 uses. Another week passes and we still haven’t opened the container.
We are spending so much time outside and we’re coming in from working on our yard redo rather dirty and one day we’re putting dirt in the new flower beds and the grandsons are helping us. The light bulb goes off – let’s see if that Tide Oxi can clean socks that have been on little feet digging in the dirt. I tell the boys to take their shoes off (to their delight) and turn them loose to dig in the load of dirt. They had a blast and those socks were dirty.
We opened the Tide Oxi and added it to the laundry full of outside dirty clothes (including those dirty little socks) and also added a bunch of white stained towels. I loved the fresh smell when I opened the container.
It is good but it is not a miracle. The socks were much cleaner than if I had washed them just in detergent but after the second wash they were even cleaner. Now this test wasn’t really fair because those socks were DIRTY. The stains on the old white towels (old stains – old towels) were lighter and the white was brighter. I’m beginning to get impressed.
I wanted to try something else. I fill our porcelain kitchen sink with a little Tide Oxi and hot water and drop the gas stove top iron grates in. I let them soak for about 30 minutes, ran a scrubby sponge over them, rinsed them, dried them and all the “gunk” was off them. Not only that – but when I drained the dirty water from the sink, the sink was sparkling. Okay, more impressed.
Off I go to find something else to clean. Let’s go outside. I’ve had some big glass vases sitting outside in my junk pile for over a year. Glass gets pretty yucky when it sits outside. Cloudy and dirty. I had tried Oxi Clean® before on some old cloudy glasses and it just didn’t clean well. Let’s try the Tide Oxi.
I brought the vases in so that I could use the hot water (it really works best in hot/warm water). I put a little Tide Oxi in each vase to clean the inside and a little in the sink and I filled the sink and the vases with hot water. Did I tell you that Tide Oxi smells great? I let them set for about 5 minutes and just wiped them with a dish rag and rinsed and dried. They shine like I just brought them home from the department store. AND the sink was shining again.
The non-cleaning woman is searching anything now that she can quickly clean. Husband tells me I could go try it out on his truck and I just gave him a look. Y’all know that look….
I decide to let him try out the Tide Oxi and No – he did not volunteer to try it out on his truck but he did try it out on our very used – utility sink. Don’t panic – the red is not blood but paint.
He only used warm water and some elbow grease with a scrubby pad and he was sold on Tide Oxi. AMAZING! Me? – I’m headed back outside again.
We had our entire house pressure washed a couple of months ago and paid a small fortune for it. But I was not at all happy with the end result of the front porch. The spindles and top railings were still dirty. The blue top rail was still dirt stained and the white spindles were grayish yuck instead of white.
It was so ugly that we are planning to paint (and what a job that is going to be with over 125 spindles to paint). I had tried Clorox ® on them already with not much of the dirt and mildew coming off. So what the heck – let’s try the Tide Oxi. Put some hot water in a container along with some Tide Oxi and just used a rag and did some hard wiping and I’m SOLD!!
When I get through with all these 125 spindles – we shouldn’t have to paint until maybe next year.
Will I buy more Tide Oxi? YES! But a little goes a long way. If you just use it along with your laundry detergent you will get 108 loads out of one container and when you are through with that container you will have a handy container to mix your Tide Oxi with hot/warm water and use it outside.
Am I through cleaning with Tide Oxi? No! As a matter of fact, as I was headed to the computer to write this post I noticed how dirty the tile was were Tucker (the dog) eats and where his water bowl is.
I whipped out a little Tide Oxi into a small container and added a bit of hot water and scrubbed those tiles and the grout. Quick and easy and that area was shining like the rest of the floor (gotta talk to the cleaning lady about missing that spot).
What am I going to do with my Tide Oxi now? I’m headed to the largest Antique/Junk/Craft show in Texas in a couple of weeks. Some of you might have heard of it – Round Top and I’ll be taking my Tide Oxi with me. And, if I run out – I know where the closest Home Depot is to pick up some more. Lots of cleanup when you are trying to sell old junk fine antiques.
Remember – “You can Tide that!”

I’m so glad someone else has date nights to Home Depot!
Isn’t it FUN! Just roaming the Home Depot aisles with your sweetie and talking about all the things you can do.
I didn’t realize this product was out, I need to check it out! Thanks!
Get it! I’m still walking around thinking “Hmmm What Else Can I Clean?” Soaking old jars in Tide Oxi just let me peel the labels right off. LOVE IT!
Omg Tracey! Those glasses! And I never even thought of the stove grates … I know what I’ll be doing with my BBQ grates tomorrow!
And labels on recycle jars – they slip off like MAGIC!
Our date nights have to include spending money, at least $6.49, a joke between us but I am not going to tell him that might include stuff from Home Deptot! Plannig to try some of this wonder product. Happy Labor Day! Linda
Hi Linda! Nice to know we aren’t the only ones that are easily entertained.
good to know how well this works! Totally gonna check it out!
I need to do some deep cleaning now.
I want to do my baseboards next.
Those are some awesome results! Its been awhile since I had a Home depot date with my BFFHubby. I’m gonna plan it now! 🙂
Don’t pencil that date in – PEN it in and enjoy!
That’s totally how we spend our date nights. Even if we aren’t after anything in particular, we wander the aisles and daydream about plans. 🙂
It’s just nice spending time together and knowing you have similar daydreams.
My utility sink looks just like that (except with blue and purple paint!), so I really need to get my hands on some of this!
The Tide Oxi will have it sparkling in no time!
So cool! I gotta try some of this!!
This stuff looks awesome!
You and Dee have me convinced. This stuff is miraculous!
Will you both come help me scrub my grime? I’ll supply the Tide Oxi, you supply the elbow grease. Deal? 😉
On my way.
This stuff has got to be amazing! I told Dee that my husband will be doing the cleaning but I’ll be going to buy some today!
