To Slipcover OR Not To Slipcover (and there’s a contest too)
Spring has sprung and Summer is almost here which in Texas that means it is about time to stay in the house with the a/c blowing heavy.
With everything growing outside (which also translates to mowing or weedeating almost every other day) it makes me want to move some of that new growth inside the house – just itchin’ to change everything!!
I’ve been looking at the same sofa for almost 10 years. That’s a record for us – a sofa for 10 years!!. BUT the sad news is that it doesn’t look a day over 2.
So, I’m thinking about slipcovers. I have one chair that has a slipcover on it and it looks pretty sad after the grandsons leave.
It’s an oversized chair so it is used for all types of things: diving board, fort, Bat Cave, snuggling and more. I bought this chair about the same time as the couch. It was on clearance and I didn’t care for the fabric but I loved the size of the chair and figured I could just buy a slipcover for it. I was mistaken – it is very hard to buy a slipcover for such an oversized chair. The slipcover on it might even be for a loveseat which is why it might not fit very well.
I’ve been on the Sure Fit site today. I’ve heard about Sure Fit slipcovers for years and I’ve looked at their catalogs several times. I’m just not sure about Slipcovering. We SIT on our couch, we LAY on our couch, we have been know to EAT snacks and DRINK on the couch, the boys JUMP on the couch (don’t tell their father). I can honestly say that we live with our furniture – it is not there for looks. As you will find out, if you continue following this blog, we LIVE in our house.
So, dear readers, I would love to hear about your experiences with slipcovers.
Our current couch is similar to Waverly by Sure Fit Ballad Bouquet sofa cover ( I wish those were my French Doors). So if you go over to their site, let me know what slipcover or slipcovers you think would be best for us. We have a matching T-Cushion chair and oversized ottoman as well as the overstuffed chair with the oversized slipcover. My problem is that I’m really liking this Ballad Bouquet cover (as seen above) so what would the point be in getting a slipcover for the sofa when it is so similar to the current sofa. Alas – maybe I just need slipcovers for the chairs – As Pooh would say “Oh Bother”
Now is a great time to purchase slip covers from Sure Fit. Here are some of the current sales going on and yes I am an affiliate for Sure Fit and I will make a few cents – IF you purchase something through these links. BUT the sales are pretty good ones. These offers end Saturday, May 31st.
Save 10% On $100+, 15% On $150+ and 20% on $250+ with code AFTR at Surefit.net! Offer ends: 5.31.

There is even a sale for our four legged friends: Take 50% Off + Free Shipping on Soft Suede Pet Throw with code: DED1 at Surefit.net! Offer ends: 5.31.
It’s also a great time for a CONTEST. On June 15th, I’ll randomly pick one winner from everyone that responds to this post about slipcovers. Let’s see what could the prize be? I know – a $25 gift certificate to Sure Fit. How appropriate could that be? Oh, but you say “The above sales expire on May 31st”. Don’t fear, I’ve got a special code you can use to still get 20% off your order (expires 8/31/14). So readers, share your slipcover experiences and/or help me pick out the perfect slipcovers. Get those responses in and lets see if we’re going to slipcover or not.

Finally someone talks the truth about slipcovers! I have always hated them because they do what you posted about in your first pic. Woudl love to win! This one looks really nice 🙂 http://www.surefit.net/shop/categories/sofa-loveseat-and-chair-slipcovers-one-piece/casablanca-rose-one-piece.cfm?sku=41185
We have fitted slipcovers that came with out couch. I love love love them. Most people don’t realize its a slipcover (it’s the Ektorp from Ikea). They are a lifesaver.
I always hated bunchy slipcovers, too, but my mother-in-law has a Surefit one on her sofa, and it always looks great! Trust me, she’s not the type to keep tucking and rearranging it to keep it looking that way either! 😉
Slip covers always look like the first picture. I’d really love to see one that actually does what it’s suppose to. If Sure Fit is as good as they say….they would definitely have my business. Thanks for the great info!!!
The only covers that I’ve seen stay put would be my Granny’s old fitted plastic covers, maximum protection and minimum comfort. Would like to win to offset the cost of trying this product out. please who ever wins please keep us informed of the results.
